Borderlands of Wales

Day 1
A narrow valley through the Shropshire Hills brings you to the glorious setting of your first night's stay. Time to unwind before a welcome dinner with your fellow travelers.

Day 2
Explore quintessential sheep grazed Wales. From a ruined fortress perched overlooking Montgomery we move deeper into Wales for a visit to the splendid Castle & gardens of Powys.

Day 3
Walk along the heather clad Long Mynd for a breathtaking start to the day. Superb panoramic views, deep cut valleys and jagged "tors" standing guardian over this myth-laden landscape.

Day 4
Walk along the historic Offa's Dyke - the Welsh equivalent of Hadrians wall. Our route to Ludlow takes us through unspoiled Clun valley. Walk around bustling Ludlow's graceful Georgian streets, courts and back lanes and visit its 900-year-old castle.

Day 5
Past country halls, watermills, duckponds and half-timbered cottages along the lanes between Herefordshire's "Black & White" villages.

Day 6
The haven of Hay-on Wye in Wales, known for its antiquarian bookstores is where we start our day. Castles and ruined abbeys await us again in the peaceful Black Mountain National Park and Golden Valley.

Day 7
Stay around to explore this undiscovered gem, maybe by traditional canal boat on the Borders' rural waterways?
