Day 2
Stunning drive through mountain passes to Buttermere. Take lunch in lively North Lakes capital of Keswick before visiting Wordsworth's house at Cockermouth. Wander through the magaliths of Castlerigg stone circle then head back through the mountains.

Day 3
Spend the morning browsing in Ambleside, maybe taking a boat out on Windermere or relaxing in a teashop. Then we'll head towards Grasmere and Rydal Mount for an afternoon of discovery.

Day 4
Drive along deserted country lanes to quaint Cartmel. After exploring this pretty village, you'll have a private tour at Holker Hall. A scenic route takes us over to the narrow streets of Kirby Lonsdale with time to browse in its irresistible shops.

Day 5
High into the fells, we take "the Struggle" up to the Kirkstone Pass. Call in at Townend Cottage in Troutbeck. On the banks of the River Kent Kendal boasts stores, museums, tapestries, a castle and more.

Day 6
Explore the mountainous scenery along the Roman road of Wrynose Pass and the quiet lanes on Furness peninsula. Head back towards Coniston Water and Ruskin's Brantwood , the most beautiful house in Lakeland. Travel via Beatrix Potter's Hawkshead to your wonderful accommodation.

Day 7
Stay over in London, why not?
